If not now, when??

12 Oct

On Sunday night, Shoreline Amphitheater hosted the Incubus If Not Now, When? tour.  Since I haven’t seen them in 4 years, I was beyond excited to see them again.  I don’t know how to explain my love for them.  I don’t stalk their every move and know every lyric to every song but somehow when their music is on I just feel happy.  I genuinely get a good feeling from listening to their music.  I love that they have a DJ who scratches to some of their songs and that Brandon Boyd is also an avid artist creating books of drawings.  Incubus also tends to put on an interesting show.  When I saw them at the Greek, they used some great lighting to go with the songs they were playing.  They just strike me as an overall creative band and I’m appreciative of that. The new album is also quite good (If Not Now, When?).  The first single from it is “Promises, Promises” that you might have heard spinning on your local radio stations.

I’ll stop jibber jabbering now.  I know I’m a HUGE music geek in case you haven’t been able to tell yet :).

Oh yeah, and did I mention Young the Giant opened?!?  Lucky me!  They sounded great.  In this photo, Mike, from Incubus came out and played “My Body” with them for Young the Giant’s last tour date with Incubus (out of the 25 shows together).  Incubus’s bassist also came out to jam a little.  It was awesome.

Hugging it out before leaving the stage.  These guys you don’t want to miss if they come through your town.  His voice sounded just as good in person as it does on the album.

And then Incubus came out… My pictures aren’t great because I was using my little point and shoot but they give you the general idea of what you’re in for when you go to see this tour.

The little figure shadow is Brandon.  The lights were INCREDIBLE!

More lights.

I like this one because you can see the screen as well with this image from the back.

Sparkle, fire rain… Is that not a real description??

Then they slowed it down for a few songs..

My favorite photo of the night.

They played all of their old hits and 3 or 4 songs from their new album.  It was the perfect mix.  If I could see this show every day for a month straight I would.  If you are any sort of Incubus fan, make sure to go to this tour if you haven’t already.
