Outside Lands – iPhone catch up

14 Aug

This past weekend and the tail end of last week were filled to the brim with some of the best music from all over the world.  I had somewhat of an agenda who I wanted to see at Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park this year but also kept some open spaces to wander and catch new music.  I had a lot of friends from SF and coming in from other cities to enjoy the music as well so with all these things on my side, the weekend couldn’t fail 🙂

To kick off the weekend, we went to see Of Monsters and Men at the Academy of Sciences (Nightlife) in Golden Gate Park.  They are this beautiful folk band from Iceland.  This was also Chelsea’s birthday so how nice of them to play a show for her on her birthday with just a few extra guests 😉  Outside Lands ticket holders had the option of purchasing these few tickets a few weeks before the festival.  There were many other shows like this throughout the lead up week and weekend of Outside Lands.

The infamous windmills.  These were located near the middle/back lawn area of the main stage.  We had the idea of having this be our meeting place if we all got separated but the funny thing is so did everybody else.  A lot of interesting things happened here like this girl who decided to climb the post and then got kicked out.

One of my absolute favorite local bands, Geographer, played Saturday on the Twin Peaks stage.  They sounded amazing as usual and the lead singer crowd surfed at the end, it was awesome (see photo below).

This is a great sign.

The Magic Crystal is where you could go to see well known comedians perform.  This was a cool feature to add to a music festival!  Although, it has a capacity and you had to wait in long lines to hopefully get in.

They had artist painting huge murals throughout the festival.

Here’s Bloc Party.  There were a lot of interesting lights for the later shows.

Once the fog would roll in in the evenings, you could see lights and lasers everywhere!

Skrillex.

Lots of lights coming out of Skrillex’s space ship to close the festival out on Sunday night.

My personal favorite?  Foo Fighters.  I don’t have enough good things to say about their set.  I remember listening to their old albums in middle school and high school which they ended up playing one of my favorite songs “Aurora” from an old album.

Some other highlights – Beck played an awesome set and brought out all of his hit songs.  The headliners included Neil Young, Stevie Wonder and Metallica.  Metallica had a crazy fire show with pyrotechnics popping everywhere.  There were music varieties of all kinds playing all weekend long.  Over 65,000 people showed up to sell out the festival.  Fashion is huge at the festival.  It was so fun to see everyone’s festival attire.  There were local restaurants that vended their delicious eats which is such an awesome feature because if you found something you really liked, you could now visit their location in SF.  It was a huge success and I enjoyed it immensely with all of my friends.  Now to power through this week so I can relax on a houseboat next weekend.  We planned this so we’d have scheduled down time after a long weekend of standing, walking and dancing.  I hope everyone had a great weekend and Outside Lands if you were one of the 65,000 🙂

Large city, empty streets

27 Jul

Last night on the way to a friend’s going away dinner, the streets seemed more quiet than normal.  Sometimes in one of the largest cities, you can have an incredibly peaceful moment.

Have a great weekend!

#Dunlapwedding

11 Jul

I’ve known Fiona now for 8 years and I have to say, she is one of the kindest human beings I’ve ever known.  Throughout time I’ve seen her on the search for love and although I never thought she’d find it in Vegas, it’s in true Fiona fashion to have it fall upon her in one of the wildest cities in the world.  Being that Chris (Fiona’s now husband) is from the East Coast, he brought a whole group of new friends into our lives.  The union of not only their love brought new friends and family to all and it could not have been a better weekend.  It was one of those weddings where I felt like I could talk to anyone and not feel uncomfortable that we’d never met before.  Not to mention, it was in the middle of the Redwood Forest in Northern California.  It was beyond beautiful and we kept tagging everything #Dunlapwedding on social media sites so I figured, what else could this post be titled?!

The weekend ceremony and getaway was at the Ralston L White Memorial Retreat.  Gorgeous.  You curve back on these extremely tight one lane only roads that are canopied by some of the tallest trees in California.

The babies!

Heart shaped lawn.

Cruising the gardens!

BEAUTIFUL!

The Dunlaps!

Love them.

Their cake was beautiful and extremely delicious.  Also, their cake topper was made specifically for them and it was crazy how much it looked like them!

Friends 🙂

Father/Bride dance, so moving.  This is my favorite photo I have from the wedding.

Chico table 🙂  Where beach cruisers used to be our main means of transportation, I miss those days *sigh*

We danced the night away but the dj never did the bouquet or garter toss so we did them the next morning 🙂

The boys decided instead of tossing the garter, they’d battle for a frisbee which would be equivalent to the garter.

Winners, one from the West one from the East.

Fiona and I re-enacting the wedding for some silly reason.

Breakfast in Mill Valley.

After the Dunlaps took off to pack for their Hawaiian honeymoon, we took the East Coast boys to see some Northern California sites.  We packed the cars and headed to the coast.

Sarah, me, Shannon and Kimmie.  Friends since college!

I really do love living in Northern California.

There’s nothing I love more than spending time with friends and watching the happiest day of their lives happen.  Fiona and Chris are such a great match and I loved nothing more than seeing them tie the knot.  It was a great weekend and I look forward to many more like it with old and new friends!

Let the good times roll

I still have more BFD photos to share but I have so many files that I need to get organized before I can post the rest.  Until then, here’s another look into my insta-life.  Why is Instagram truly the best?!  I love seeing people’s photos of where they are and what they are doing.  Not to mention, the filters can make some photos spectacular.  Some of these photos however are just iPhone photos and not instagrammed.  Happy Wednesday!

Delicious coffees on Haight St.

The new guy I’m working with is adorable!

Thank god for daylight savings time.  I love evening walks when the weather is still nice like this.

Enjoying the MGM pool while I was in Vegas.

21 May

Wow, do I have so many blog posts to come this week.  I thought I’d just start off with an instagram post until I can organize the rest of my posts for the week.  I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!  The weather has been amazing here and I’ve been soaking it up out at the barn and in the city.

Picture perfect weekend weather.

Rooftop life style.

Picture perfect sunsets on Alcatraz.

Reflections of the city.

Dolores Park lounging.

I still can’t even believe we got to hear part of Neck of the Woods live by Silversun Pickups at work…. dream come true.  I LOVE this band so much.  Swoon is one of my favorite albums of all time and to hear some of these songs with the acoustic bass was un-real.

Oh yeah and you know my other favorite band, the Wombats?!  Saw them again and had a fantastic night!

Lunch adventures.

My place.

Where I’d chose to be any day.

Evening walks.

Bay to Breakers.. can’t wait to share all my photos from this San Francisco classic event!

Have a great week!

I’ll tell you a secret, there’s no secrets this year

4 May

Well there’s never any secrets with me to be honest but this year has been pretty life changing for me in many ways.  I’ve been all over the map and indulging in as much music, friendship/family time, travel, horseback riding and fun as possible.  One thing is for sure and that’s I’m not going to deny myself good times with the amazing people in my life.  Here’s another instagram post about my life as of late and the things that make me happy – Friday being one of them 🙂

Naturally, Coachella was life changing.

A small M83 show my work put together.  They sound SO good live.

Our family’s beautiful golden turned 11 years old this year!

I recorded with some great friend’s on an album!  Just a small part but I’m sure I’ll post it when it’s finished.  Definitely not something I’d ever thought I’d do but it was way fun!

NEON INDIAN!!!  Tahoe friends came down and we danced the night away to this AMAZING band.

I won some awesome jewelry from SF based LITTER.  I’ll be doing a shoot soon to showcase how much I love their stuff so hopefully I’ll be able to do it this weekend and post about it next week : )

Love this one.  We have very domestic date nights which consist of target nights, crafting and making dinners.

We. Met. Wally. from Gotye…. and he was the most adorable man.  He even invited us to his show which was a great live show.  I really love the Making Mirrors album.

Craft store perusing.

Lots of park lounging at lunch time.

Summer hair = no brushing allowed.  Time to be carefree for a few months 🙂

Inspire yourself.  I find quotes like this give me an extra push on some days.

We had an album listen of Rebecca Ferguson from the UK.  She’s about to launch an entire US press tour so you may not have heard of her but you will.  She’s extremely talented and I won’t forget her voice.

Our friend Rani is moving back to Texas 😦  I’ll miss her but now have a new travel destination of interest.  ❤

The weather is warming up in Northern CA!  I see more surf days in my future..

Wayne Brady stops by one of our stations.

A successful craft night with Chels.

It’s baseball season and any chance to spend outside with friends and family is a guaranteed good time.

Of course, you can’t forget about half of my heart.  Horses will be a good portion of my summer.

You might be able to find me here on warm days.

What a crazy week it has been!  I’ve been so busy just trying to accomplish everything before I head to Coachella next weekend and time has been flying faster than ever.  I can’t wait for it to slow back down over the weekend.  Some great news though, I won the LITTER contest!!!  I’m so so so excited about it and want to thank you if you helped me get there 🙂  I can’t wait to share it all on my blog!  Until then, here’s some of my “insta-life” lately.  Have a wonderful Easter weekend!
