Beanie Baby.

30 Oct

IMG_5297OK, if you weren’t born in the ’80s ‘Beanie Baby’ may be a completely unfamiliar term which really doesn’t have anything to do with this post besides the related word ‘beanie’.  My friends and family know that I am the queen of beanies.  I love nothing more than a good knit to throw on when the temperatures start to drop.  Wouldn’t you know though, I have an entire drawer dedicated to beanies for my different outdoor needs.  Here’s my guide for beanies this fall/winter.

IMG_5322This thin knit Charlotte Russe beanie is great for being active outdoors.  It’s tight enough to stay on but also lets the top of your head breathe a little.

My Neff beanies are great for snowboarding.  Anything fitted and even that my goggles can pop right on is great.

Dock Days.

28 Oct

IMG_5137The cold weather has been coming in and I love this time of year because it’s a reminder of the wonderful seasons we have.  I love seeing all four seasons transition and seeing some of my favorite spots at different times of the year.  Chelsea and I were at Fallen Leaf Lake recently hanging down on the dock.  It’s the perfect time to add some layers and bask in these gorgeous Fall days.

Avila Valley Barn.

25 Oct

This past weekend I was in San Luis Obispo for a beautiful barn-style wedding. During the day, Nick and his family took me to one of the coolest farms I have ever seen, Avila Valley Barn! There were pumpkins galore, corn on the cob, and tons of fun treats made by local farmers. I was in heaven!20131021-193449.jpg

Monday Bright Blues.

21 Oct

With the weather cooling down, we are excited to bundle up. I love nothing more than the changing of seasons and I still love being outside as long as I’m dressed warm enough. Beanies and over-sized jackets are our favorite clothes in the winter.

Falling for Flannel.

18 Oct

I love nothing more than being surrounded by trees and exploring with some fresh air flowing.  I’m also somewhat of a tomboy so I love dressing comfortably.  Flannels have always been my go-to for comfort and I’m so excited they are making such a bold come back this year.  They never go out of style but now they are actually hitting a style radar which thrills me :).

Plum Diamonds.

17 Oct

Plum DiamondsThe color of the season (for me at least) is plum. When I saw this pleather skirt I knew I had to scoop it up. The high waist was the perfect partner to this collared crop top I had just purchased.

Plum Diamonds(The rhinestones add something extra to this cropped sweater)

Plum Diamonds(Thick grey tights keep the warmth)

Plum Diamonds(Plum booties, from Forever 21)

Plum DiamondsI love skirts and tights in Fall, it is my absolute favorite look of the season. I can’t wait to scoop up more plum colored pieces soon!

Take Us to the Patch.

16 Oct

It’s that time of year – PUMPKINS!!!!

IMG_4908(Forever 21 blouse, Electric Blue Skinny’s, Charlotte Russe necklace, and H&M studded flats)

IMG_4910Very Beetlejuice but who didn’t love that movie?

IMG_4909Blue is my favorite color so I decided to dazzle up my manicure by adding some sparkly tips.  Note to self, this is much harder to do than it sounds.

As you saw , Chelsea and I had a great time at the Pumpkin Patch.  We love Fall so bring it on!

BART Strike 2013 Alternatives.

15 Oct

IFL Headquarters is concerned for those affected (us) in the event of a BART strike. Millions if not billions of commuters depend on the BART daily to get to and from work, and for the past few days we have been anxiously awaiting news of an imminent strike. You’ve all heard of the alternatives- carpool, bus routes, ferry’s, piggybacking, yada yada yada. You want real options- and we’ve got them!

1. Wakeboarding

(Strap your board to the back of a ferry to save on time- you won’t have to wait for hundreds of irritable commuters to unload the ferry before you, you’ll be the very first one off!)

2. RocketBoat.

(Hop on the RocketBoat at Pier 39, with speeds of up to 150 mph (speed could not be confirmed at time of print) you’ll be across the bay in no time!)

3. Water Bike

Free Friday.

I love the ocean.

I’ve been training for a 10k to feed the hungry in SF which I can honestly say I never thought I’d be doing since I don’t love running.  When my co-workers mentioned it though and that our donations would help feed hungry children in San Francisco, I figured now was the time to run if ever.  Last night while on a good run along Ocean Beach, I felt very grateful.  I’m grateful for a lot and especially these indian summer evenings.  I can’t believe my training grounds at times.  To end my run, I decided to walk down to the water just to take some last deep breathes of the fresh, warm air.  This is when I came across the most beautiful site, a man draping bubbles across the skyline.

imageI couldn’t stop watching.  It was one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen.
