Matt White private concert for lunch?

31 Mar

One of the perks of working in the radio business is that there is always some up and coming artist, dropping by to do a showcase.  Today we were lucky enough to have Matt White who has a famous song called “Love” that’s actually in a McDonald’s commercial right now.  He has such a beautiful voice and played 4 or 5 songs for us!  As employees, we were invited up for a free lunch and this awesome sneak peak of Matt White’s latest album!

I have some video of his amazing voice but for some reason can’t upload it here so here’s a photo:

I showed up a little early too and got to hear much more.  Days like today are the days I’m thankful for working in such an awesome environment.  You never know what the day is going to hold!  Matt is playing a show tomorrow night at the Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco but it’s sold out, so if you got a ticket and are going you are in for a real treat.

Finally Sunshine and Catwalks in the sky

29 Mar

San Francisco has sooo many awesome things hidden around the city and today I might have discovered one of the most amazing ones.  I read somewhere that if you can get into the Mandarin Hotel (in the financial district), you can take an elevator up to the 48th floor.  On the 48th floor, there is a catwalk with windows from floor to ceiling looking over the entire city.  The catch is that you have to be a guest to get into the elevators.  Although if you are nice enough, they will let you up to check it out and today was my lucky day and I was allowed access.  It was one of the most amazing yet terrifying things to do ever, such a rush being so high up.

Ahhh going up in the elevator to the 48th floor was nuts, the elevator was rattling and flying up the stories.  The elevator was also really cool.  It was all gold mirrors.

The hallways had these beautiful chandeliers and at the end of this hallway, where the light is glowing, is the catwalk!

The view!!!!!  Trans America Building, Alcatraz, the Coit Tower and I could see the Golden Gate bridge but I couldn’t fit it all in the same frame.  So unreal.

Golden Gate bridge on the left.
So. high. up!

OK enough of this amazing spot.  If ever in downtown San Francisco, you MUST go see this spot but beware… if you’re afraid of heights, this rattling catwalk in the sky might not be for you.

Here’s some other photos of things downtown that I shot today cruising around.

I kind of have an obsession with modern art, in case you couldn’t tell 🙂  Can’t wait to get to the MOMA soon!

Of course my favorite farmers market lunches on Tuesday and Thursday are from various vendors at the Ferry Building.  I swear the best grilled cheese I have ever had in my life is located in the Ferry Building at Cowgirl Creamery.

This fountain is in Union Bank right downtown.  Pretty crazy all of the structures around the city.  Many more days like this to come!

Sunday Funday!

28 Mar

My idea of a sunday funday is being outside doing something that I love and one of those things is snowboarding!  I have had a season pass to Northstar at Tahoe for probably the past 6 years but this year I wasn’t sure how often I’d be able to make it up so I didn’t purchase one.  I was able to get a few comp’d tickets through work and it’s made me realize how much I miss living near the ski hill!  I miss the days where snowboarding only three days a week was rare because normally it’d be five.  I had SO much fun today in all the powder in the trees today off the Look Out chair.  These pictures don’t do any justice for how much fun or beautiful this mountain and area are.

I wasn’t sure how the weather was going to be but it ended up being beautiful.  The sun wasn’t always out but it definitely stopped storming which was a nice change.

This was an actual building that was buried!!!  Seriously so much snow…

I can’t wait to get up there again.   Hopefully when Spring riding conditions are here I’ll be able to sneak a few weekdays in, those are truly the best.

Rain in the city means snow in Tahoe!

27 Mar

I am a snow lover and considering my boyfriend, Ian, lives in beautiful lake Tahoe (where I used to live for a year and a half), I find any time/excuse to get up to Tahoe.  I was just here a few weeks ago and everyone was saying how that was the most snow they had ever seen but little did we all know even MORE SNOW was on it’s way!!  Ian and his friends all have snow mobiles and live where they pretty much have backyard access to snow mobile trails.  We got to go out snowmobiling today and I documented some of the snow experience in the back country.

If this gives you any indication how much snow there is in North Lake Tahoe right now….

Here’s Ian on his snowmobile!

The funny thing about all of the snow is that everyone kept getting stuck!  Here’s our friend Matt stuck sideways in the snow and then Brandon got stuck as well.  Everyone got stuck at least once today but it was such a fun day!

Here’s Brandon and Alex doing snow mobile wheelys haha I didn’t even know this was possible until today.

And one more snow photo because it’s just unbelievable how much snow there is…

Another Rainy Day

25 Mar

The rain hasn’t stopped in a long time now.  I don’t really mind the rain but the wind has been so strong these past few days along with the rain, makes for an interesting walk to work.  Today the streets were strewn with abandoned umbrellas everywhere that had flipped themselves inside out.

It was the kind of wind and rain where you just brace yourself the entire time walking against it.   The water really accumulated throughout the area as well.  This planter was full to the top!

I know everyone is complaining about all the rain but I can’t wait for hopefully one of the most beautiful Spring times ever.  The colors are going to be so vibrant, I can’t wait.

I have a really good rainy day DIY Home Decor project coming up for my blog, I just need time to photo the process 🙂  Hopefully this weekend, I’ll get it up for anyone who wants something fun to do indoors this weekend!

Around the city, I’m a tourist

24 Mar

I love cruising around the city on my lunch breaks and snapping photos with my iphone.  Everyday I find something new and exciting even if it’s the most simple thing.  Here are some random shots from around San Francisco that I took today and yesterday.

My sanity :)

23 Mar

One of the main reasons why I wanted to start blogging was because I wanted to share my love for my only hobby that I’ve had from the womb… horses.  I don’t know where it came from since no one in my family shares my love for this phenomenal animal.  My baby blanket had horses on it, I always waned to go on pony rides as a toddler, asked for lessons as a young girl, and started training consistently in my teens.  I always hear, “there is something about girls and horses…” and I don’t exactly know how to explain what that means but I believe in it with all of my heart.  There is something so insane about the human animal connection that can be formed.

A horse I have been working with for the past few months is a horse named Zinger.  I am working him/selling him for a woman and I absolutely adore him.  I have been training him in Dressage and wanted to share some Dressage photos with the blogging world.  It’s an Olympic sport and definitely not as easy at it looks!

This is one of my absolute favorite photos I took of Zinger.  You can really see his cute demeanor and the dressage court we train in, in the background.  So much personality in this guy, I love it.

This is us training for Second level which we will be showing this year.  He is a very quick learner and has progressed so well throughout our training process.

I LOVE this photo.  My mom helped me take some of these photos with my camera so I could make Zinger a new Ad. and she did such a great job.

And last but not least, this is us.  No matter how hard of a time we can have on some training days, we always end well 🙂
