Bucket Listing in the California Surf

5 Mar

I’ve been spending my time lately just hanging out with good friends, family and working on getting physically stronger/in better shape.  It’s so important for the mind and body to be taking care of yourself and working out.  It’s been so helpful being surrounded by people who are up for anything and that I just enjoy their company.  My good friend, Lesly, has been such a wonderful new friend in my life!  We go and try a new restaurant once a week and share a love for board sports.  It’s been on my bucket list to surf in CA because I only have surfed in Hawaii when I go see my family about once a year.  It’s something that I’ve always found incredibly peaceful and something that I had wished I had more access to.  Lesly has her own board and wetsuit and knows the waters in Northern California well.  It’s very important to respect the water and know what you are getting yourself into.

With the weather really warming up this weekend (73 degrees and no wind), we hit Pacifica on Saturday for a nice long boarding session.  I had a blast with her and can’t wait to do it again soon!

We had less than half mile to go so we just shoved the boards in the back of Lesly’s car haha!

Just taking the Ferrari to the beach.

Pacifica is a great place to enjoy the ocean.  The swell was very small this weekend which was great for me and it was very relaxing.  There is also a Taco Bell right on the beach to re-fuel after surfing 🙂  That’s not part of my getting fit routine but it definitely screams your name after paddling for a few hours.  Happy Monday everybody!

Travel Thursdays – Connecticut

1 Mar

A huge part of going to New York was to see where our dear friend, Fiona, who had moved after falling in love with an East Coast boy.  They met in Las Vegas and while she was living in CA at the time, she moved to Connecticut to be with him.  They are now engaged and getting married this summer!  Shannon and I really wanted to get out there and see them before the big wedding (and they will probably move back to CA after they are married).  What better time to go then now?  So half of our trip was spent in NY and half in Conn.  My favorite part of seeing Connecticut was when they took us to the beach in Milford where I beach combed for so many beautiful shells.  I loved it.

Driving out of the city.

Quaint church in the small town that Fiona teaches in.

I love the stone that this church is made out of!

On our drive to the sea side, we passed the largest manufacturer of military helicopters!  Couldn’t help but think of my brother.

We’ve arrived at the sea side and damn it was so cute.

Beach houses.

Keepers everywhere, they just needed a little washing 🙂

Beach walks.

Texture.

They are so cute 🙂

Down time.

I couldn’t ask for better friends.  They are such a huge part of the key to happiness.

Aw the happy couple and best hosts ever!

Crop planes.

Easy coast lovin’ for an adorable lab.

Beach trekking in the winter

Love this place.

She’s the cutest!

There’s usually so much more snow than this!

When you can’t skip rocks, just throw ’em 🙂

Me and Em, I love this.

Take me back?

This is the warmest winter in Tahoe I’ve seen in a while but it sure is beautiful no matter what conditions.  Enjoy!

The top of a beautiful blue world

While spending the weekend with Emily and Matt in Tahoe, they were nice enough to take me out on their snowmobiles which is always a good time!  I love getting to go snowmobiling with them because it’s one of their true passions and they are both so good at it.  It’s also so liberating flying through the woods with the wind in your face and the Lake by your side.  One of the stops we made was at Watson Peak and it was incredibly beautiful.  I really had the best time enjoying the outdoors this weekend with these two.

There hasn’t been fresh snow in a while but it got very chilly at night.  They need a new snow very badly but they’ve got the temperatures at night for it.  During the day was too warm but it sure was beautiful.

We took the sleds up to the top peak of Northstar to enjoy a drink and some food and of course the nice day.

Toys.  Emily and Matt have the most fun garage of anyone I know.

I just love her!

I’ve missed my friends!

From Northstar we headed to Watson Peak which was just unreal.  I used to live where I could see this lake everyday and I can’t believe I don’t anymore.  It’s so incredibly beautiful and my opinion of that never changes no matter what the weather or angle I’m looking at it.

Em and Matt’s friend Ryan came along with us for the day, too!  His girlfriend, Kim, was working for the day so what better way to kill time than go for this beautiful snowmobile ride and he has quite the sled.  I’ll be sharing that in one of my next few posts.

One of the most fun days I’ve had in a while.  I have so much more to share from this weekend so I’ll continue to post more photos throughout the week.  Until then, enjoy!

A day on the bay in January

30 Jan

This past weekend was extremely unusual weather for San Francisco.  The sun was shining and it looked like an end of Spring day.  I can’t complain but I need some snow in my life.  The mountains are calling my name this weekend.  In the meantime here are some photos from our unusual San Francisco winter day.

Bay Bridge.

Sooo cute!  I’ve never seen a sea lion by Pier 7 before.  He was just swimming around so calmly, it was so nice to watch him 🙂
