Vancouver, Canada eh?

26 Aug

Last summer at this time I was in Vancouver, Canada and loving every minute of it.  It’s such a fabulous vacation destination for so many reasons. It’s such a clean, wonderful city.  Here are some photos to show why Vancouver is in my top 5 most beautiful cities that I’ve ever seen.

There are cruise ships, freighters, sea planes, and so much more passing by on the water way with the mountains in the background.

If you know me, you know my obsession with interesting modern art and architecture.  This was an area for cruise ships.

The Olympic torch from the previous games here!

Pixelated free willy, pretty awesome.

You can take a short drive to Shannon Falls which is gorgeous.

The wall to the parking garage at the airport was all plants!  This was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.

My family and I had such a great time on this trip.  We’ve been twice now and my brother has decided to have his honeymoon in Vancouver and Whistler in 3 weeks!  Pictures don’t do this place justice.

Finally Sunshine and Catwalks in the sky

San Francisco has sooo many awesome things hidden around the city and today I might have discovered one of the most amazing ones.  I read somewhere that if you can get into the Mandarin Hotel (in the financial district), you can take an elevator up to the 48th floor.  On the 48th floor, there is a catwalk with windows from floor to ceiling looking over the entire city.  The catch is that you have to be a guest to get into the elevators.  Although if you are nice enough, they will let you up to check it out and today was my lucky day and I was allowed access.  It was one of the most amazing yet terrifying things to do ever, such a rush being so high up.

Ahhh going up in the elevator to the 48th floor was nuts, the elevator was rattling and flying up the stories.  The elevator was also really cool.  It was all gold mirrors.

The hallways had these beautiful chandeliers and at the end of this hallway, where the light is glowing, is the catwalk!

The view!!!!!  Trans America Building, Alcatraz, the Coit Tower and I could see the Golden Gate bridge but I couldn’t fit it all in the same frame.  So unreal.

Golden Gate bridge on the left.
So. high. up!

OK enough of this amazing spot.  If ever in downtown San Francisco, you MUST go see this spot but beware… if you’re afraid of heights, this rattling catwalk in the sky might not be for you.

Here’s some other photos of things downtown that I shot today cruising around.

I kind of have an obsession with modern art, in case you couldn’t tell 🙂  Can’t wait to get to the MOMA soon!

Of course my favorite farmers market lunches on Tuesday and Thursday are from various vendors at the Ferry Building.  I swear the best grilled cheese I have ever had in my life is located in the Ferry Building at Cowgirl Creamery.

This fountain is in Union Bank right downtown.  Pretty crazy all of the structures around the city.  Many more days like this to come!

My sanity :)

One of the main reasons why I wanted to start blogging was because I wanted to share my love for my only hobby that I’ve had from the womb… horses.  I don’t know where it came from since no one in my family shares my love for this phenomenal animal.  My baby blanket had horses on it, I always waned to go on pony rides as a toddler, asked for lessons as a young girl, and started training consistently in my teens.  I always hear, “there is something about girls and horses…” and I don’t exactly know how to explain what that means but I believe in it with all of my heart.  There is something so insane about the human animal connection that can be formed.

A horse I have been working with for the past few months is a horse named Zinger.  I am working him/selling him for a woman and I absolutely adore him.  I have been training him in Dressage and wanted to share some Dressage photos with the blogging world.  It’s an Olympic sport and definitely not as easy at it looks!

This is one of my absolute favorite photos I took of Zinger.  You can really see his cute demeanor and the dressage court we train in, in the background.  So much personality in this guy, I love it.

This is us training for Second level which we will be showing this year.  He is a very quick learner and has progressed so well throughout our training process.

I LOVE this photo.  My mom helped me take some of these photos with my camera so I could make Zinger a new Ad. and she did such a great job.

And last but not least, this is us.  No matter how hard of a time we can have on some training days, we always end well 🙂

Photoshoot in Sacramento!

One of my best friend is a very talented make up artists.  When she asked me to come take some photos for her portfolio and also be a make-up canvas, I was more than thrilled to go help her!  She has freelanced for Bare Escentuals and worked for many internationally known make-up companies.  She does events and much more so if you’re located in CA, she is more than worth contacting!

For Kelly, she used natural colors with black eyeliner to really outline the shape of her eyes.  Amanda’s blog has more details.

This is the artist herself Amanda =)  She did her own make-up which looks amazing as always.

I requested the pin-up look for my make-up.  I always thought this would be much too drastic but really ended up loving the thick liner with no shadows and a bold lip color.  The colors really bring liveliness to a simple black dress or outfit.  And her cute kitty enjoyed being a part of the shoot 🙂

Hello world!

11 Mar

I have been photo blogging for a while now but figured word press is really the place to share thoughts and creativity, as I’ve learned looking at everyone else’s amazing blogs!  Today in San Francisco was insane with it being St. Patrick’s day, people everywhere dressed in green.  Thankfully the rain let up for a day and I was able to cruise the farmer’s market at the Ferry building with a close friend of mine.  A place close to my work that I love going to is Pier 7.  It’s so beautiful and if I were a tourist in this city it’s something I’d absolutely want to see.

I have so many things to update on here and many upcoming events to cover.  I’ll work on continuing to build my blog in the mean time 🙂
