Make a wish. Make it count.

4 Sep

I tend to gauge my life on “moments” where I can recount back and remember exact moments and feelings I had at a specific time.  Cheesy as it may be, it’s these moments that change my life in one way or another.  This past year has been a year of moments and growth in my life and it’s been my friends and family standing by my side that have really given me the courage to finally go full throttle on life experiences.  Working in such a bustling city has been so inspiring but it’s also the moments when I am in the middle of nowhere with two of my best friends that I can find inspiration as well.

This past weekend, I was up with Emily and Matt in Tahoe.  We decided to go on a nighttime adventure to the top of the nearest peak to watch the sun go down and the extremely large moon come up.  It was insanely beautiful and I felt so lucky to be there with my friends.  I have some great photos to share from it this week but on the way up to the top of the peak, we stopped in this gorgeous meadow where Emily found the one and only dandelion.  I love that she loves photos too so she let me snap some photos of her and I just love how they came out.  When I was little if you found a dandelion, you would pluck it and blow all of the petals off of the stem to make a wish.  The idea of making a wish is so simple and almost magical because although we all know that wishes don’t just typically happen, it’s a lot of hard work usually that pays off to get a certain reward.

After this dandelion turned to just a stem, we searched and searched this meadow for another one.  We could not find another one anywhere.  Em managed to find the only dandelion.  It was beautiful and a sign of the seasons changing.  I thought I’d want to hang on to this summer forever since it’s been such a great one but I’m actually looking forward to the Fall.  Pumpkin, Ginger, hooded sweatshirts, and most of all the changing of all the colors outdoors.  It’s transitional and beautiful.

Next time you find a dandelion, pick it up and make a wish.  It’s the little things and moments that count 🙂

Stop motion – Inspiring stuff

16 Mar

Being so big into photography and inspiring things, I am so in love with stop motion.  It’s something that’s always there in my mind festering because someday I’d like to create my own stop motion short.  My mind moves so fast though, it’s hard to latch on to one story line.  For those of you who don’t know what stop motion is, it’s movies that are made from single photographic frames.  I’ve posted two of my absolute favorites below.  There’s something about the combination of a good song with a good visual that really inspires me.

And this beautiful piece with music by A Fine Frenzy…

Enjoy these shorts and have a wonderful weekend!

I told myself no more network sites.  The end.  Who am I kidding though?  You can’t deny something you like and I found a lot of like in Pinterest.  I was very resistant to it just because I didn’t need something else to look at or kill time with but I really find a lot of inspiration from the photos on there and enjoy seeing other people’s talents.  So I leave you with some of my absolute favorites so far ❤

I absolutely love this.

Adore this photo.

Where will you be 5 years from today??

28 Oct

Ian’s mom, Frida, recently gave him the book Where Will You Be 5 Years From Today by Dan Zadra and I think it’s safe to say I’ve abducted  it from him.  This book seriously re-vamped my attitude towards future goals and is a good reminder of the fact that nothing is out of reach.  Life is all about figuring out what you want and how to get it and this book is a good guide to searching for and obtaining those things.

Sometimes I find myself saying to myself I’m too tired to work on something I have in the works for the future but the future is exciting and should give me energy.  This book is really interesting and a good investment if you ask me.  The most important investment you can make is in yourself.

This is your life, your one-and-only life.  You determine what’s possible.  Make choices, ask questions, take steps – today is the day
