I do love glitter (DIY)

10 May

After this lovely post was Freshly Pressed, I knew I wanted to put this DIY to work in my apartment.  I chose a different color scheme but the idea was all from the FP’ed blog.  Of course my craft guru/partner, Chelsea, was right by my side.  We stocked up on supplies and hit my patio for some evening basking and crafting.  I love these nice evenings where the sun is out and hanging out on the patio is the go to place.  This idea the original blogger had was so great and I love how these glitter clips helped me put my photography in my own home.  So many good memories to share.

This was the extent of what you need.  Paint and glitter of choice, a paint brush, clothes pins, some twine and tacks (not shown here and I picked white so it somewhat blended with my wall).

We painted each clothes pin followed my an immediate dip in glitter.  No glue needed.

Chelsea chose pink glitter and I chose white but we ended up liking both results so much that we just shared the different colors.

Here’s the white ones.  A more subtle glitter and they look like candy!

I made one string for above my mini-office.

And one of travel and adventure above my couch.

Such a great and easy project to do.  I was able to add lots of memories and color to my place in just one short afternoon.  I always find that putting more personalized items in my space makes me smile more.  There are always good things to look back on and motivates me to keep creating the good times.

Flashback Friday – Past Halloween Costumes!

28 Oct

Halloween is always so much fun to dress up for.   In college my two best friends (Kimmie and Amanda) and I lived and did everything together.  Naturally, when it came time to dress up we always wanted to do something together so we could create our costumes together.  Here’s a few ideas if you are still looking for something to dress up as this year!

Alvin and the Chipmonks.  Haha I love this silly picture.  We bought tall T’s and wore shorts underneath.  Most comfortable and fun Halloween costume ever!

Kat Von D/Greaser girls.  People at the bars thought A and K really had sleeve tattoos haha it was so much fun!

We went to a school in the middle of farm country which was perfect for me with my love of horseback riding but it also allowed there to be horse cops that patrolled the streets at night.  We bought stuffed animal horses on a stick and wore leggings, tall boots and cop t-shirts/hats one night and were horse cops.  I loved it and it’s a simple affordable outfit to dress as, too!

Happy Halloween weekend to everyone 🙂  I hope you have a safe and fun weekend.  I can’t wait to see everyone’s Halloween costumes!
