Fall Playlist – Music to my Ears

17 Sep

With all of the great tours happening this fall and our music inspired week we are going to have on IFL, I thought I’d share some music I’m really into right now.  Some old music, some new music but all of it is good music so turn the music up and tune everything else out for a while.

(I found this amazing piece online by Linda Sannuti)

1. Yeasayer “Damaged Goods”
2. Passion Pit “I’ll Be Alright”
3. Two Door Cinema Club “Someday”
4. Animal Kingdom “Skipping Disk”
5. Atlas Genius “Back Seat”
6. Alt-J “Breezeblocks”
7. My Name is You “We’re Alive”
8. Rubblebucket “Came out of a Lady”
9. The Lumineers “Flowers in your Hair”
10. Bombay Bicycle Club “Evening/Morning”
11. Magic Wands “Black Magic”
12. The Black Keys “The Only One” (One of the most romantic songs, just love it)
13. Mark Foster “Warrior”
14. Geographer “Lover’s Game”
15. Dragonette “Let it Go”
16. Local Natives “Wide Eyes”
17. Phantogram “When I’m Small”
18. Emiliana Torrini “Jungle Drum”
19. Miike Snow “The Wave”
20. Good Old War “Amazing Eyes”
21. Foo Fighters “Aurora” (I know this is very old but it’s amazing)

There is so much amazing music circulating these days, my ears are always perked for new tunes.  San Francisco is such a great city for music too because almost every tour stops to see us music lovers.  We are having our first ever Spotlight Artist this Wednesday on IFL so if you love music too you should definitely check it out!  I hope you all have a great week 🙂

Summer Peach

23 Jul

I’m the type of person that mainly drinks water.  Lots and lots of water.  My main exception to this rule is coffee and the occasional glass of wine or beer.  I don’t love soda or juice very much but with these recent scorching days, I’ve been craving something a little more refreshing than just water.  Yesterday, I hit the store to try to concoct something refreshing to drink outside in the warm evening and highly enjoyed what I came up with so I thought I’d share 🙂

Ingredients: Peach concentrate (or juice of your choice), bubbly water, and a splash of coconut water (only if you enjoy it on it’s own).  I also added some fresh slices of peach because they are in season and I love summer fruit.

I did about 3/4 glass of peach concentrate and 1/4 of bubbly water with a splash of coconut water.

It’s a great summer refreshment that I thoroughly enjoyed on the porch last night.  I hope everyone had a great weekend 🙂

New Music Wendesday!

27 Jun

Since I’m such a huge music fan, I’m constantly listening for new tunes that are pleasing to my ears.  Since I’m going on a road trip this weekend, I’m usually inspired by the amount of time spent in the car to make a new playlist.  In case you need some new tunes, I’ve put a few new songs I’m digging on here today.

I just love music and it can make any situation that much better 🙂  I love music for the simple fact that it not only sounds good but it always brings back certain memories of certain times in your life.  I love when a song comes on and it takes me back to a feeling I had long ago.  It can really bring out the inner child in you sometimes.

Enjoy!

Cha-ngria – Ginger Addition!

7 May

With summer coming up and the warm weather rolling in, I have been determined to make a good drink concoction for days meant to be spent outside by the pool.  I’ve always loved sangria because it has just enough flavor for one glass.  It was a dear friend’s bday over this weekend so I wanted to bring something over that the boys and girls could enjoy 🙂  I searched for an easy recipe as I wanted to make this Friday after work for a Friday evening enjoyment.  If you’ve read my blog before, you also know my extreme love for Ginger so the fact that this recipe called for Ginger Ale – I couldn’t turn it down.

Ingredients: Red wine, ginger ale, ice, brandy (or maybe even rum – of your choice), fruit (I used citrus flavors because they could be squeezed in instead of needing the overnight marinate), sugar and the unexpected Champagne!  I learned about the champagne trick from a good friend last week.

I used a whole bottle of wine, about half cup of sugar, all of the fruit, a splash of Brandy (probably 1-2 ounces) and about a full cup of ginger ale.

Once finished, I put a bunch of ice in the mix and brought it over to my friend, Brie’s, birthday.

Once you pour your glass of sangria, this is where you top it off with cold champagne!  I put about 1/5 the glass of champagne so don’t fill your glass all the way with sangria.  This makes for the most refreshing bubbly drink out there.  I think I’ll name this a Changria for it’s mixture of champagne and sangria.

Enjoy a well deserved Cha-ngria this summer!

Friendship Friday

One of my best friends Kimmie and I have been friends now for 8 years.  So crazy to put the amount of time in numbers.  Throughout all the ups and downs that life can bring you, we’ve always stayed present in each others lives and have been there for each other through it all.  I was surprised by this three day weekend after the holidays and when I realized that Kimmie was only a flight away, I thought Carpe Diem.  I booked a flight to Southern California where her and I will spend a weekend catching up on life, love and friendship.  She’s a fantastic videographer and we plan lots of nerd photo/video dates 🙂  Next week I will have tons to share on the southern parts of California.  Until then, I’m off again.  Everyone have a WONDERFUL weekend and I hope you all do something that you’ll never forget.  Also, I’ll leave you with some good traveling songs.

I’ve always loved this music video.

Enjoy and Happy Friday!

GroupLove I love you

9 Dec

Last night, my work had a pre-concert concert.  That may sound silly to some of you but I find it one of the most awesome ideas in the world.  When you are a music lover, you understand this need for good live music.  Stand out artist of the night was Grouplove last night.  Here are some photos, the lighting was hard to shoot with but because I was right above them – the lighting almost made some of the photos look wide angle which was good practice for me for tonight!

They danced like there was no tomorrow, it was amazing.  So much positive energy contagiously sprawling across the room.

Molly Ringwald’s twin is in the band!  OK, not really but they looked a lot alike.

So damn cute!

The Joy Formiddable was up next!

Last photo of the night.  The Joy Formiddable.

Last but not least one of my all time favorites The Naked and Famous played but I couldn’t hang around to see their set unfortunately 😦  I will however get to see them in a week so I will stop pouting for now 🙂

Some must listens from Grouplove:
“Tongue Twisted”
“Gold Coast”
“Lovely Cup”
