Houseboat Life

24 Aug

Hi!  I’m sorry I’ve neglected my blog this week, it’s been quite the challenging week with work and things so I’ve had my focus other places.  I cannot wait to share with you my house boating experience with all my friends last weekend.  It was such an amazing weekend and the weather was really great.  I have many more photos to share and a bunch of great photo projects over the weekend and also a new project I’ll be working on that I cannot wait to announce soon :D!

Sunset swimming was my favorite!

Shannon and me checking out the islands as we drove by them.  There are all these awesome beaches and private islands all along the Delta.

We were surrounded by farm land at points, it was crazy to see the view from the roof of the house boat because it’s not what you would expect.

Mt. Diablo!

Evening BBQ’s with this view.

Morning showers and amazing skies.

There was a fishing tournament going on the weekend we were on the Delta.

Calm morning water.

Rain drops.

Sunrise.

One of the coves we found for swimming and BBQ’ing.

It was such a great weekend for relaxation and having some good downtime with friends.  I will share more photos soon!

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

Friendship

25 Apr

I know in my last post I talked a little bit about Emily and the friendship we’ve maintain for now *gasp* twelve years.  It seems so weird to put a number to the time and definitely doesn’t feel like that long.  We’ve been through the waves of motion in life and haven’t always lived right next door to each other (even though that’s how it began) but we’ve always been able to pick up right where we left off.  I’ve been really aware of the amazing people in my life lately and I really hope they know how much I appreciate them.  I try to tell them as much as possible and I appreciate them all more than they will probably ever know.  It’s so important to keep the strong, supportive and FUN people in your life.  Fun is contagious and there’s absolutely no reason to stop the good times with the people you care for.

Now onto the good stuff, here’s some more photos that Em and I took while down at the lake over the weekend.  It’s a continuation of sorts from yesterdays post 🙂

Coffee together is always the best.  Tahoe House in Tahoe City is one of the best bakeries and coffee shops in between the North and West shores of Tahoe.

Being silly.  We literally might be the most silly people when we get together.

Naturally, we also bond over music.  Em was making a playlist for our lake lounging.

I’ll leave you with some words of wisdom I read yesterday.  Another great friend, Chelsea, sent me this link to a bunch of motivational and inspiring quotes and there was one I wanted to share.  Every now and then it’s nice to read something that can empower you at the start of your day.  Happy Wednesday!

We got it all right here

23 Apr

I’ve been a little M.I.A from blogging lately because I’ve had a lot going on with work and travels but I’m going to be the come back kid this week and hopefully get back in gear!  Coachella was naturally one of the most amazing weekends and it was followed up by another amazing weekend in Tahoe.  Above is me and one of my best friends Em just having fun on a pier in Tahoe.  It was the most amazing weather this weekend and Em and her husband, Matt, are some of the best people I know.  We always have such a good time together and I’ll see Em again when we head to the Neon Indian show in SF this week.  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and I look forward to catching up on your blogs as well 🙂

Mavericks Festival, the Expendables, and Sunshine

2 Apr

This past Saturday, Mavericks held an event to honor the massive wave event that usually has already happened by this time of year.  However, they could not ever lock down a day to get the surfers to charge for a contest.  There were still surfers who I’m sure were out there catching waves this past winter but there wasn’t an actual contest held.  Surprisingly, we had some sun and a nice day of music and friends.  It was down pouring everywhere else but somehow along the Hwy1 coast line, we had some of the most beautiful weather.

Kite boarders everywhere!

The Expendables playing.

This is just hilarious.

Little kids just loving the music : )

Hanging in the awesome Red Bull truck that our friend takes all over the place to different events.

The Expendables

Cute gamers 🙂

GoPro was also there giving out a few GoPros!  Pretty awesome.

Female Mavericks surfer!

They had a skate set up, too!

I love my friends.

Travel Thursdays – Connecticut

1 Mar

A huge part of going to New York was to see where our dear friend, Fiona, who had moved after falling in love with an East Coast boy.  They met in Las Vegas and while she was living in CA at the time, she moved to Connecticut to be with him.  They are now engaged and getting married this summer!  Shannon and I really wanted to get out there and see them before the big wedding (and they will probably move back to CA after they are married).  What better time to go then now?  So half of our trip was spent in NY and half in Conn.  My favorite part of seeing Connecticut was when they took us to the beach in Milford where I beach combed for so many beautiful shells.  I loved it.

Driving out of the city.

Quaint church in the small town that Fiona teaches in.

I love the stone that this church is made out of!

On our drive to the sea side, we passed the largest manufacturer of military helicopters!  Couldn’t help but think of my brother.

We’ve arrived at the sea side and damn it was so cute.

Beach houses.

Keepers everywhere, they just needed a little washing 🙂

Beach walks.

Texture.

They are so cute 🙂

Down time.

I couldn’t ask for better friends.  They are such a huge part of the key to happiness.

Aw the happy couple and best hosts ever!

Crop planes.

Easy coast lovin’ for an adorable lab.

Beach trekking in the winter

9 Feb

Love this place.

She’s the cutest!

There’s usually so much more snow than this!

When you can’t skip rocks, just throw ’em 🙂

Me and Em, I love this.

Take me back?

This is the warmest winter in Tahoe I’ve seen in a while but it sure is beautiful no matter what conditions.  Enjoy!

The top of a beautiful blue world

7 Feb

While spending the weekend with Emily and Matt in Tahoe, they were nice enough to take me out on their snowmobiles which is always a good time!  I love getting to go snowmobiling with them because it’s one of their true passions and they are both so good at it.  It’s also so liberating flying through the woods with the wind in your face and the Lake by your side.  One of the stops we made was at Watson Peak and it was incredibly beautiful.  I really had the best time enjoying the outdoors this weekend with these two.

There hasn’t been fresh snow in a while but it got very chilly at night.  They need a new snow very badly but they’ve got the temperatures at night for it.  During the day was too warm but it sure was beautiful.

We took the sleds up to the top peak of Northstar to enjoy a drink and some food and of course the nice day.

Toys.  Emily and Matt have the most fun garage of anyone I know.

I just love her!

I’ve missed my friends!

From Northstar we headed to Watson Peak which was just unreal.  I used to live where I could see this lake everyday and I can’t believe I don’t anymore.  It’s so incredibly beautiful and my opinion of that never changes no matter what the weather or angle I’m looking at it.

Em and Matt’s friend Ryan came along with us for the day, too!  His girlfriend, Kim, was working for the day so what better way to kill time than go for this beautiful snowmobile ride and he has quite the sled.  I’ll be sharing that in one of my next few posts.

One of the most fun days I’ve had in a while.  I have so much more to share from this weekend so I’ll continue to post more photos throughout the week.  Until then, enjoy!

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! 5 Reasons why I’m so excited for the Holiday season

8 Nov

OK, OK.  I know it’s not even Thanksgiving, which I am also VERY excited for, but with the time change and all the new exciting lights out in the city, it’s really getting me prepared for a wonderful holiday!  There are so many reasons why I enjoy this time of year but here are 5 to get me started:

1. Gingerbread!

(photo cred)

I love gingerbread cookies, gingerbread with icing, gingerbread teas/coffees, gingerbread scented candles and pretty much gingerbread everything.  There’s something so nice about being snuggled up inside the warm house with gingerbread around.

2. Decorations!

(photo cred)

San Francisco turns all of the large financial district buildings into large presents.  At least that’s what I see when I look at them 🙂  The lights are so beautiful.  I also love driving around all of the suburban neighborhoods and looking at the Christmas decorations.

3. Snow!

(photo cred)

Although we don’t get snow where I live, this is the time of year when I know snow is falling in all of the mountain towns.  The resorts will fill up and it’s time to go snowboarding.  I usually make a trip out to Michigan around Christmas where Ian’s family is and spend time in the snow with them.  It’s always so beautiful to experience snow around the holidays.  Last year it snowed on New Year’s Eve in Michigan and it was beautiful!

4. Quality Time!

(photo cred)

I know, I’m a total family person.  I love getting to spend quality time with my friends and family on the few extra days off of work.  It’s so nice to just share stories and catch up on life.

5. The Movies!!!

I feel like every family has their tradition of what movies they watch around the holidays.  I LOVE holiday movies so much.

A Christmas Story has always been our staple.  I love the scene where Ralphy’s brother is trapped in his snow one-sy.

Progressively over the years, Elf has become more of a staple.  It’s just so hilarious I can’t even point out one of my favorite parts.  Will Ferrel does such a great job of bringing the jolliness in this movie.

Christmas time is one of my favorites and I’m going to enjoy every moment of this upcoming season 🙂

How I celebrated my Halloween

1 Nov

This year for Halloween I actually went out and braved a Halloween party in the city.  For the past few years, I’ve either worked at concerts doing photography or went to concerts which were equally as fun but I was in more work mode for those.  This year, we went out to a friend’s party and I had a blast.  Here are a few photos from Saturday night:

Chelsea was Harry Potter and Anthony was Spiderman in his custom made one piece.  That thing was awesome!

I was Ke$ha and Ian was my body guard (for the first part of the night at least haha he later changed his outfit to become a car… quite the transformer!)

One of our other friends had a full on body costume!  I think he was a character from Yo Gabba Gabba?

Crafting to help Ian change his costume mid-party haha

Friends 🙂

Chelsea and Ian!

And then we found a Darth Vader mask! haha There were some big time costumes at this party.  I wish I was better at Halloween costumes but I got some great ideas from this party for next year so maybe I’ll have to brave the city again next year 🙂

BFD 2011

10 Jun

I work for such a great company that throws amazing concerts and surprise, surprise… I absolutely LOVE music.  I’ve gotten really lucky with my job.  I’ve worked a few BFD’s in my time with Live105 and I can truly say there are so many amazing people that make the event possible.  I love everyone’s shared passion and enthusiasm to really create such a successful event time and time again.  This year was different because I didn’t have to work with the promotions team like I had in the past and it was a very different experience.  The entire promotions team are some of my favorite people ever.  Luckily with my new role, I’ve met even more amazing people.  Here are some photos from BFD 2011!

Here’s Antonio, Chelsea, and me!  Always having fun =)

Chelsea and Antonio playing around in the VIP!

Our new friend from tv and Radio Coordinators extraordinaire!!
