Soft Summer

1 Jun

When shooting for this post, we were testing places and lighting where I snapped the below photos of Chelsea.  I thought I’d share them because they are so soft and beautiful and I love lower backed dresses.  She’s also so easy to shoot because every photo turns up beautiful and effortless.  I love my partner in crime, she’s always up for the crazy adventures that get thrown our way.  If you will be at BFD this weekend, look for us because GoPro is strapping cameras on us for the ultimate concert experiences.  Pretty awesome things to come.  Oh yes and HAPPY FRIDAY! 🙂

I love the back of this dress!  This number is from Forever 21 as is usually everything we wear.  That store is the best.

I love this photo!  She does a really great job of being in front of the camera.  I am the complete opposite.  Although most photos on my blog of me look composed, it usually takes a long while to get there.  I’m much more comfortable behind the camera.

Neon Indian Summer

30 May

There’s something about the warmer weather that makes me want to dress in brighter colors.  Chelsea and I had a fun time mix and matching neons and soft colors to put this post together.  I also love anything with a Native American twist.  Alas, Neon Indian Summer…

Chelsea in F21 top, sandals and skirt.

Love the bows on the back.

F21 neon sandals. SO cute!

These two brights go so well together.

You could even pop this with heels.  Some nice summer sandal wedges.

I love this neon pink jacket for summer coverage (F21 blazer, dress, and Urban Outfitters sandals)

For daytime, I threw the Native American inspired tunic over a neon green swim top to put with the hot pink jacket.  It’s subtle but the perfect summer bbq color combination.

I also love racer back tops for summer.  They show a little extra skin and allow a more casual feel.

Ring from Topshop in NY.

For night time, you can add some earrings, heels and leggings to dress it up a bit and stay warm through the cold currents we get here in the city.

Urban Outfitters shoes.  I can’t tell you how comfortable I find Urban Outfitters shoes to be.  You know when you find the ones that fit like a glove?  That’s how I feel about every pair I’ve bought from them.

I always find that if you’re going to wear heels with a shorter tunic/dress, you must wear leggings.  Without leggings, sandals are a much better fit.

I find bold jackets are always a difficult decision to buy because you don’t know how much you will wear them but if you buy them at Forever 21 they are guilt free and I wear mine more than I ever thought I would.  It’s perfect for days when you don’t want to leave without one.  Also, with the amount of black and white that I have in my closet this jacket always adds a good pop 🙂

Happy colorful summer everyone!

Want you to see everything, want you to see all of the lights

29 Mar

For this travel Thursday I thought I would show my photos from Times Square in New York from about a month ago.  I wanted to share these in my week of New York photos but I had so many that I thought I’d save them for another day which happens to be today 🙂  What I had imagined Times Square to be was actually 20x’s bigger in real life.  It was a place that I’m glad that I saw in NY but if I went back, I’d probably focus my time elsewhere.  It was a gigantic sight to see and had so many moving parts that were almost too mentally stimulating.  I left feeling a bit exhausted but now I’m glad I can say I went to NYC and stood in the busiest area and just soaked it all in.  Anyway, here are my photos from the vastly covered in lights area.

A recruiting station right in the middle of the area.

Tall and skinny in this perspective.

The mecca of Forever21’s!!  I did not go in but it’s definitely larger than life.

Walking up the big red steps in the middle of it all.

One of my favorite shows, New Girl!  Chelsea would appreciate this 🙂

Broadway.

The Chase building was showing clips of Ken Block and The Art of Flight.  It was cool to see some action sports being broadcast in such a highly populated area!

And of course, some horses 🙂

What a week it’s been!  One of our morning shows (Alice’s Sarah, Vinnie, Uzette and Icky) won $13,000 through the lottery and the band Fun. stopped by the office yesterday to hang before their shows in SF.  Beyond that, I’ve spent time with great friends and the horses.  It’s been a week where I’ve been able to reflect on the fact that my life is good.  When you truly start doing the things in life that make you happy and you work hard at your commitments, life really falls into place.

In the daylight anywhere feels like home

I don’t know about everyone else but besides for these photo shoots I had one of those weekends where I just didn’t want to do anything but sleep or lounge.  I’ve been on the go so much that I was really looking forward to decompressing.  Instead of going out to a pub on St. Patrick’s Day I decided to try to hone some of my creative thoughts with other creative masterminds.

For a while now I’ve had some photo ideas that I wanted to try to put to life.  I scoped two locations that I thought would be cool for another run at fashion photos and asked my friend Lesly (who models) and Henry (who is a very talented photographer) to come along.  There were many behind the scenes stories and many more photos that I will show throughout the week.  Here’s a preview of what’s to come!

Lesly rocking this $9.00 Forever21 gown (no joke, this was an amazingly elegant look for less than what your lunch probably cost!).  This lush canopied way was someones driveway I’d seen driving by earlier.  Thankfully no one thought it was weird that we wanted to shoot some photos there 🙂

The next spot for shooting was this vibrant field.  This is me in a Forever21 dress as well which you will see better in the next posts.  The hat is from Haight St in San Francisco for under $10 and the necklace (unseen here) I made which I will feature this week, too.

Both of these shots were taken with my Canon 60D but Henry took some amazing photos with his Canon 5D MarkII and some amazing lenses.  I’ll make sure to let you know the settings and what has been done post production.  Lots of good things on the horizon so Happy Monday to everybody!
