The Sky was on Fire

26 Sep

If you live in the bay area, you probably witnessed that incredible double rainbow sunset a few weeks ago.  I didn’t see the double rainbow but what I saw was spectacular while I was out with the horses.  Luckily, I had my camera in my car so I ran to grab it to snap a few photos of this phenomenal sunset.  This is what I saw.

The clouds were UNREAL.

It just kept getting wilder and brighter!

These are all real color, no filters…

Pretty amazing.

Summer Skies

16 Aug

Tuesday night this week, a mini cloud storm rolled in that made for one of the most beautiful sunsets I’d ever seen in the East Bay of San Francisco.  The pictures only do half the justice of the unbelievable sunset.  I hope if you were in the area you got to enjoy it as well.

Near my house.

Every few minutes with the changing of sun position, the sunset changed in a new beautiful way.

The beams of light were my favorite.

The pictures may all look the same but they are different variations from about a half hour of changes to the sky.  I haven’t seen a sunrise or sunset this spectacular in a very long time.

Enjoy!

Chasing Summer

6 Aug

The weather wasn’t looking so glorious this past weekend in the bay area and I won’t have a free weekend to get up to Tahoe for a while so Saturday morning I just up and headed to the lake.  Em and Matt were actually in town as well and my other friends were headed up so it made a perfect combination for an R&R weekend.  The weather was beyond perfect and I was dipping in and out of the lake as necessary.  Towards the end of the day on Saturday, a mini storm rolled in and the clouds set the most beautiful picture.

I’m ready to go back now.

I hope you all had a great weekend as well 😀

Neon Indian Summer

30 May

There’s something about the warmer weather that makes me want to dress in brighter colors.  Chelsea and I had a fun time mix and matching neons and soft colors to put this post together.  I also love anything with a Native American twist.  Alas, Neon Indian Summer…

Chelsea in F21 top, sandals and skirt.

Love the bows on the back.

F21 neon sandals. SO cute!

These two brights go so well together.

You could even pop this with heels.  Some nice summer sandal wedges.

I love this neon pink jacket for summer coverage (F21 blazer, dress, and Urban Outfitters sandals)

For daytime, I threw the Native American inspired tunic over a neon green swim top to put with the hot pink jacket.  It’s subtle but the perfect summer bbq color combination.

I also love racer back tops for summer.  They show a little extra skin and allow a more casual feel.

Ring from Topshop in NY.

For night time, you can add some earrings, heels and leggings to dress it up a bit and stay warm through the cold currents we get here in the city.

Urban Outfitters shoes.  I can’t tell you how comfortable I find Urban Outfitters shoes to be.  You know when you find the ones that fit like a glove?  That’s how I feel about every pair I’ve bought from them.

I always find that if you’re going to wear heels with a shorter tunic/dress, you must wear leggings.  Without leggings, sandals are a much better fit.

I find bold jackets are always a difficult decision to buy because you don’t know how much you will wear them but if you buy them at Forever 21 they are guilt free and I wear mine more than I ever thought I would.  It’s perfect for days when you don’t want to leave without one.  Also, with the amount of black and white that I have in my closet this jacket always adds a good pop 🙂

Happy colorful summer everyone!

Is winter finally on it’s way to the Sierras?!

12 Mar

I spent the weekend with my friends in Tahoe again and it was beyond beautiful.  It’s a tad eerie though, the lacking amount of snow that they have for this time of year.  After a sunny, beautiful snowboarding day at Sugarbowl on Saturday just playing in the slush, we took a scenic route home winding down towards Donner Lake.

The views of Donner Lake are so beautiful.

After a fun filled snowboard day on Saturday, we headed to Reno for another Monster Truck show!  We are on a roll, these things are literally so awesome.  However, we didn’t realize how good we had it last time when we saw them in Oakland.  The Reno venue was much smaller which didn’t allow for any rolls or mass destruction of machinery.  They did have much better in-between racing which included little dune trucks and dirt bike jumping!  I’ll post pictures from that soon 🙂

On Sunday, I enjoyed a nice lunch with Em and then went to the Lake to shoot some photos of the storm coming in.  The colors really light up and contrast over amazing Lake Tahoe.  I think there may actually be some snow finally coming in this week and that’s great news for Tahoe.  I can’t wait to see and hear what becomes of this upcoming storm!

At this point, little snow pellets were flying towards me as the winds picked up.

It’s weird to see sand and not snow on the beaches this time of year!

Hopefully there is a huge storm about to blanket the Sierras and if so you bet I’ll be back there to make some turns and take some photos.

Sorry about my post on Friday, I was trying to embed the Kony 2012 video but was having technical difficulties.  None the less, check it out – it’s pretty amazing the change one person can make.

Happy Monday!

An inspiring start to the weekend

27 Jan

A friend recently shared this video with me and since Half Dome is on my Bucket List and I found this video to be incredibly beautiful, I thought Friday would be the perfect day to share it to start the weekend.  Enjoy!

The return of Travel Thursdays with Venice Beach!

19 Jan

I stopped doing Travel Thursdays for a while because although I’ve seen a some cool places, a lot of my photos are so old!  I’ll continue to write about ones that are must-sees and current places though.  Here’s a post about my trip to the world famous Venice Beach last Sunday.  I had always heard just how extraordinary it was and I’d always seen it on TV and in movies so I figured I couldn’t miss seeing it.  It was truly something else.  I had to split this into two posts as well because there were so many interesting things to see in Venice Beach.  Here’s the first batch of photos, enjoy!

The art in Venice was one of my favorite things about the place.  Almost every building or wall is painted.

It was so cool, all you have to do is give the city a copy of your driver’s license and you can go tag the Venice walls in this beach area.  I loved watching people tag the walls and I LOVE the colors of good graffiti.

Hey I found my initials, at least I think 🙂

So much paint.

Even the trees?

Oh yeah and there’s an awesome skate park on the beach.  So cool to watch all the amazing skaters from toddlers to old guys hand planting.  Yes, that happened!

So cute!

A moment of calm.

A traveling sunrise

29 Dec

Well yesterday was a day full of travel for me and it started with one of the most amazing sunrises from San Francisco International Airport I have ever seen.  Lucky for me, I had a window seat.  The colors and shapes of the sun and clouds were incredible, these pictures can’t even do half the justice!

Many more photos from my trip to come :-)!

Hanging around – why not spend a non-traditional Thanksgiving in Hawaii?!

I haven’t really been able to blog since I’ve been here but I thought I’d put a few pics up.  I have SO many to share and can’t wait to update my blog when I get back.  This place is amazing and I’m finding myself enjoying the downtime more than ever before : )
