Make a Difference, Today.

8 May

Our good friend Antonio was in a terrible biking accident a few years ago and one of the things that he attributes to saving his life is the San Francisco General Hospital. He’s started his own fun run taking place in San Francisco this September to give back to the hospital who gave him so much- his life!

What made you want to create the 30/30 run?

Well, I created this event because in 2010 San Francisco General Hospital saved my life. I was riding my bicycle on my way to work, and got into a terrible wreck. I hit a rock in the road, lost complete control of the bicycle and flew through the back window of a parked car. I cut my neck open (24 cm), slicing my jugular…

High Fashion Meets Everyday Fashion.

I work with some amazingly inspiring people and the other day while rocking these earrings, one of them asked me if I had seen Pippa McManus’s fashion illustrations recently.  He showed me some of the drawings and how large earrings are going to be big in upcoming runway shows.  I love the idea of very simple outfits with one bold piece and if the earring isn’t too heavy, I’m in FULL suppot of rocking the bling in jewelry form.  Check out some of this amazing artists images below.

Cupcake Quiche.

6 May

IMG_9119

When I was in Berlin last year, I accidentally found this amazing bakery with these scrumptious quiche muffins.  I thought of them the other day and decided to re-create them for our blog night when Chels and I get together.  It’s as simple as 6 eggs, 1 cup milk, 1 cup flour (we used pastry flour), goat cheese, sea salt, and assorted fresh veggies (mushroom and tomato).

We left out the seeds from the tomatoes because we didn’t think they’d bake well.

IMG_9115
It’s a tad messy during the process but we filled the cupcake dishes to the brim.

Bake at 400 degrees for 20 mins and voila!  Amazing personal sized quiche for breakfast.

Enjoy!

Spring Flair

I picked up this white knit dress by ecoSkin a few weeks ago when I was thrift store hunting and I think it is perfect for the soon to be Summer days.

https://www.ecoskincollections.com/dresses.html?limit=30(I love to pair flowy dresses with boots, it mixes masculine and feminine well)

(These fluttery cap sleeves are really simple and keep my shoulders cool, I think it is a nice touch)

Lately, I have been checking out the local buy back store called Crossroads and have been finding a bunch of great things for super cheap, this dress was only $12! Once in a while you can find something that is either new or practically new in stores like these. They are definitely worth a look.

Whale Sightings at Ocean Beach.

2 May

If you follow our blog, you know how much I love to be outside.  The weather has been incredibly warm this week in San Francisco.  We are talking above 70s which is not the norm.  I took full advantage of the time outside which included a walk on the beach after work on Tuesday evening.  As I was walking out to the waters edge, I started seeing spouts bursting straight into the air.  3 of them right among the surfers and there were the most surfers I’ve seen out there in a while.  What I saw next blew me away, a large pod of humpback whales breaching and frolicking amongst the surfers.  I’m sure it wasn’t as neat to be a surfer and have one of them surprise you next to your dangling feet but it seemed like an extra special sighting that I felt lucky to witness.

Vegetarian Summer Toast.

1 May

The best part about cooking in the Spring and Summer months is all of the fresh vegetables that we have available at our local farmers markets. I love making breakfast sandwiches and have experimented with all kinds of basic ingredients in order to find that perfect mix of sweet and savory. This recipe was created out of one of those experiments and I must say it is as delicious as it is simple to make!

Vegetarian Summer Recipe(Thickly slice a loaf of your favorite Rustic bread)

Vegetarian Summer Recipe(Mix a spoonful of goat cheese with a spoonful of ricotta cheese- this makes the goat cheese much easier to spread)

Vegetarian Summer Recipe(Heat your oven to 400 degrees. Toss mushrooms and red pepper slices with olive oil and sea salt. Cook for approximately 10 minutes)

Vegetarian Summer Recipe(Toast the bread slices and spread the cheese mixture on each slice)

Vegetarian Summer Recipe(Top with roasted vegetables, a drizzle of honey and a sprig of basil)
